RV Water Tank to Carry Water

As I mentioned in my post about off grid water and specifically about hauling water, I purchased an additional water tank to haul more water each trip. Specifically, I purchased a 65 gallon RV water tank, repurposed it and put it in my truck bed. With this tank and an additional 40-45 gallons worth of 5 gallon bottles, I can haul nearly 100 gallons in a single trip.

I had specifically rejected doing this because we typically have a fair amount of rain over the winter and hoped to fill my water tanks naturally. However,

we have not received much rain and what little we did get, it was not enough to even get things started.

I did have to make some alterations to the tank like putting a valve at the lower portion of the tank to empty it. I also added a fitting at the top to plug a hose into and I had to cut a hole for air venting while filling or emptying. This worked great and has already helped make a difference. More importantly, right after purchasing and setting it up, we started to get significant rain.

Gotta love mother natures timing.
